View Across Guildable Manor circa 1850
The viewer is standing in front of the old London Bridge Station looking down and across the Borough High Street to St Saviour’s. The structure to the right is now covered by the railway viaduct to Charing Cross, the building to the left is part of St Thomas’ Hospital, the Men’s Ward, that site now occupied by the London Bridge Hotel and other establishments. The Women’s Ward in the same style survives, it is now the Post Office, behind this. The buildings in front of the church still remain; the most prominent is now the ‘Barrow Boy and Banker’.
